The finishing touches are being put in place for Buckingham Country Show, being held at Bushey Lane Farm, Preston Bissett on 4th June 2011.

With a Country Show of this type not seen in the Buckingham area for a number of years, Buckingham Young Farmers’ Club, the show’s organisers, aim to showcase rural activities to bring the countryside to the general public. Club members are hard at work getting the showground ready for the action-packed programme which awaits the expected crowds. With main ring attractions, sideshows and Young Farmers’ competitions as well as plenty of trade and craft stands, there’s plenty to keep visitors busy throughout the day.

Across the showground, there will be milking, sheep shearing, farriery and 'field to plate’ demonstrations, alongside livestock, a classic car and tractor show, farmers’ market, steam engines and a dog show. In addition, the main ring will see the Inter-Hunt Championship get the crowd on their feet and cheering for their favourite team, whilst the “Farming through the ages” display will demonstrate the advance of agricultural machinery over the years.

Buckingham Country Show is also the annual competitions for Buckinghamshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs, which sees Young Farmers’ members from all the clubs in the county compete against each other in competitions designed to teach them skills-for-life, as well as be great fun, such as Stock-Judging, Homecrafts, Metalwork, Woodwork, Cookery, Tug O’ War and even a Bath Race! Buckingham MP John Bercow will be officially opening the YFC Homecraft Barn after judging has taken place, as well as judging the “Build a Scarecrow” competition.

Gates open at 9.30am with a full programme throughout the day. Admission will be £7 for Adults, £5 for Senior Citizens and £3 for Under 16s. Under 5s go free.
